Tracking as needed (PRN) medications

CareZone can help you, or a loved one, keep track of your as needed medications (often called "PRNs") by recording the doses you’ve taken.

We’ll keep a running history so you can see the last time you took your pain medication, or other PRN, and the number of doses you've taken. You can easily monitor your progress and share updates with your doctor.

iPhone and iPad Instructions

To record PRN medication doses, you’ll need to add your medication and make sure there is no reminder set for the medication. You should see "As directed" next to the medication name in the Medications module.

If there is a reminder time associated with your PRN, edit the medication to delete the reminder time. (Learn how to edit your med.)

To record a PRN medication dose:

  1. Go the Medications module.
  2. Tap on View Med Schedule.
  3. Scroll to the bottom of your medication list to the As Directed section.
  4. Tap on the desired medication from the "As directed" section at the bottom (e.g. Ibuprofen).
  5. Tap on the square next to the medication to mark it as taken. The medication will then be recorded earlier in the list at the time on which you tapped to mark it.

To edit the time taken or include details about how many you have taken, tap on the pencil icon button to that appears to the right of the medication name. Learn more here.

  6.  Tap Save in the upper right corner.
